Human Rights Capacity Building Program
VicHealth provided funding for the Human Rights and Bioethics Unit of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University to undertake human rights capacity building programmes with the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA). The project involved conducting a human rights based review of seven PHAA policy statements with a view to providing a guide by which the PHAA can take a rights-based approach to the revision of current policy statements and the formulation of new ones. The Human Rights and Bioethics Unit devised a process by which the PHAA can include human rights in its discourse and applied that process to the seven policy statements.
