Journal Sub-Committee
Purpose
The Journal Sub-Committee was put in place by the Board to provide advice on the future development of the Journal.
Committee Members:
- Mike Daube (Chair)
- Jeanne Daly
- Cathy Mead
- Pieta Laut
Actions to Date:
In late 2005 the Journal Sub-Committee recommended that the Journal be taken on-line and the Board's endorsement undertook a process to determine an appropriate provider. The February and April issues of the Journal are on-line and available to members at no additional cost and to non-members for a fee.
A first step in marketing/promoting the Journal has been undertaken through the implementation of a process to provide all Branch Presidents with advanced copies of the Journal's contents and media releases for appropriate local action. Blackwell Publishing, our on-line publishers have commenced marketing the Journal at conferences both within and outside Australia.
Workplan:
The Journal Sun-Committee currently has three items on its workplan:
- the development of a short paper that outlines the place of the Journal within PHAA's roles, within the academic public health community in Australia, and in the wider context of it providing a component of public health infrastructure in Australia;
- development of advertising in the Journal - this is to include both inserts and the Taskforce is seeking a professional group to take on the task of acquiring advertising on a commission basis;
- marketing/promotion of the Journal - a marketing plan encompassing both the print and online versions of the Journal is being developed.
Meetings:
The Journal Sub-Committee meets by teleconference on an intermittent basis as work progresses or issues arise.
